Compliance Obligations?
If you require employees to work at temperatures which when measured over a period of 4 hours the dry bulb temperature is less than 6 degrees celsius, you must take reasonable measures to protect your employees form the cold.
If you require employees work in a refrigerated environment where the dry bulb temperature is less than 0 degrees celsius you must comply with the maximum time periods in which employees may work at different temperatures below 0 degrees celsius as set out in the table in sub-regulation (2)(a). You must also provide employees with the protective clothing as set out in sub-regulation (2)(a)(i) – (vi). Employees working in these conditions must have annual medicals to ascertain whether they are fit to work in such conditions.
Where the time-weighted average WBGT index, determined over a period of one hour, exceeds 30 in the environment where the employees work, you must ensure that try and take steps to reduce it below 30. Note the definitions of “time-weighted average” and “WBGT index” in the definitions section of the Regulations. Note the requirements when hard manual labour is performed under these conditions as set out in sub-regulation (4)(b)(i) – (v).
This regulation regulates luminance requirements at the workplace.
Compliance Obligations?
You must ensure the lighting at the workplace complies with the illuminance values as set out in these Regulations. In order to do this, you must conduct lighting surveys to determine where illuminance values are compliant and where measures must be put in place to remedy areas which are non-compliant.
You must ensure that emergency lighting complies with the requirements of sub-regulation (4) and (5).

Compliance Obligations?
Users of machinery must provide and maintain sufficient clear and unobstructed space at every machine to enable work to be carried out without danger to persons. You must ensure that you comply with the requirements of sub-regulation (2)(a) – (g).
