These regulations stipulate how you should handle hazardous chemical substances on site. They must be read in conjunction with the OHSA. Some of the more important definitions to note are: “Air monitoring”; “Assessment”; “BEI”; “Exposed”; “HCS”; “Monitoring”; “OEL”; “OEL-CL”; “OEL-RL”; “Respiratory protective equipment”; “Respirator zone”.
This regulation specifies what the prohibitions are with regard to HCA.
Compliance Obligations?
No person is allowed to:
• use compressed air to remove HCA from any surface or person;
• eat, drink, smoke, keep food or beverages or apply cosmetics in an area that contains HCA; or
• use "non-toxic", "non-harmful", "non-polluting" or "non-hazardous" lables on any HCA packaging.
• manufacture, procure, use, handle or store HCA listed in Annexure 2
Please note that Regulations 13(d), Tables 1 Annexure 2, shall come into effect 18 months after the promulgation of these regulations.
